Stopping the car in the middle of a two lane bridge on a spring day is not the ideal set up for snapping a photo. But the fact is, Opportunity doesn’t often knock twice, and this particular day the view was just too good to waste so I rolled down my squeaky window and snapped a quick one with my trusty Canon PowerShot.
Recent heavy rains have brought our Kansas waterways back to life and there’s nothing like a landscape with water to get my paintbrush flowing, so I hurried back to the studio and set up my palette. The photo didn’t quite capture the soft breeziness of that day, so I sparked up the color notes and rearranged Nature’s furniture a bit and created this version of a memorable spring moment…
Painting water and reflections is the next best thing to splashing around in the real thing! I hope to see you in the studio soon…
Your water paintings are so soothing and restful! And did you know that you’re not just a great painter, but a great writer as well? xxoo
Thanks….”soothing and restful”…this is what I am after as a general rule and in this painting I was aiming to keep it soft. You, my dear, are the writer, but I appreciate the kind words!
I love the combination of aquas and browns!
You’ll notice how much grayer the actual photo is…just didn’t convey the soft mellow feeling I was after. The aquas are a bit hyped, but I couldn’t resist fudging on color! I am going to put this painting in a gold leaf plein air frame which will accentuate the warm tones even more. Many thanks!
Oh, I love this one. So cool, pleasant, and relaxing!
….I think this one is becoming a favorite!!!!!
Beautiful!
May God reward you for your kindness!
